What is Search Engine Positioning?

Binoculars

When building our sites, we at WebImperative always ensure that they are optimised, so that when the search engines come to check the site out, they can find all of the information they require. We also use software to submit sites to the engines every month.

Unfortunately, although this is good practice, it's not enough to ensure an immediate good ranking. The only way to guarantee a high ranking is to place an 'advert' on the engines. In Google, this will appear in the list on the right hand side. When a user searches against keywords you have specified, your ad will appear. If the user then chooses to click on the link to your site, you will pay. You can specify how much you're willing to pay per click and how much per month.

Overture runs a similar service which places adverts on other popular engines such as MSN, Yahoo and Alta Vista.

Why it concerns you:

For as little as £30 a month you can have an advert across all the major search engines which will deliver targeted users to your site.

WebImperative's Solution

For popular keywords, advertisers compete with each other to get the best listing. In order to ensure that your advert remains near the top of the listings on the right hand side, you need to constantly monitor the bids to ensure that your ad occupies the position you want for it and that you're not over-paying for the privilege. WebImperative already do this for many sites; if you would like us to also manage your search engine positioning, drop us a line.
